Kamiak Bands 2nd Quarter Points

*Basketball Games (2 this quarter)               =        50 points each game                                     =           100

                 Pep Band A = 12/7, 1/10, 1/18, 2/1

                 Pep Band B = 12/14, 1/10, 1/25, 2/7

                 Pep Band C = 12/18, 1/12, 1/30, 2/7

 

Please show up to Kamiak by 7pm (except rhythm section at 6:50 for set up).  In order to receive full credit, you must be in the stands ready to play by 7:15.  Each pep band will meet at 6:15, on their 1^st game only, for a 45 minute pep band rehearsal (additional 50 points).

*The band program will be showing support at a total of 5 boys and 5 girls basketball games.  All students enrolled in Chamber Winds, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz 1 or Jazz 2 will be responsible for attending and participating in 4 basketball games (two games during 2^nd quarter and two games during 3^rd quarter).  The students from these groups have been randomly assigned to one of three pep bands marked A, B, and C.  If you are unable to participate on one of the assigned dates, then a trade must be made in advance to insure proper instrumentation (Mr. Bathurst will assist you in this process.  Please do not wait until the last minute!).  Performing at basketball games is an important service learning project that gives everyone the opportunity to support our school and community in a positive manner.

 

Kamiak Bands Make up policy

Make up work is allowed for any excused absence.  Absences must be pre-excused at least 2 weeks in advance.  Exceptions may be made in cases of emergency.  All make up work must be completed before the end of each quarter.  You may do as many activities as you need.  Each make up activity is worth 100 points.  Other make up activities may be suggested by you, but Mr. Bathurst must pre-approve all requests.

 

Make up/Extra Credit activities include:

· Private lessons (must be taken for at least half of the quarter)

· Public performances outside of school that are not already included in the curriculum (such as recitals, church performances, or other public venues)

· Performance of a solo (material must be pre-approved by Mr. Bathurst) for the class.

· 1 full page report of, and a copy of the program from, a performance that you attended (such as Seattle Symphony concerts, College recitals, etc.)

3 page (double spaced) report on a composer of your choice.

 

Other extra credit:  50 points per extra basketball game over the required 2 games.
