Meet the Director
Text Box: Toby Bathurst Mr. Bathurst grew up in Spokane, Washington graduating from University High School in the Spokane Valley. After graduation, Toby attended Spokane Falls Community College earning an AA degree, and Central Washington University earning a Bachelors of Music degree in 1994. Toby’s professional career began in beautiful Sandpoint, Idaho as the director of bands at Sandpoint Middle School. After two years in Sandpoint, Mr. Bathurst moved on to Cheney High School for eight years and Cheney Middle School for one year before moving on to Kamiak High School in 2006. He is also very proud of his extensive drum and bugle corps experience. Toby marched with the Marauders Drum and Bugle Corps for 5 years starting in 1986 and aging out in 1991. Toby also worked on the percussion staffs for the Marauders (1992-1995) and the Seattle Cascades (1995-1999) where he finished his drum corps career as the percussion caption head and arranger. In 1999 Mr. Bathurst left the drum corps activity for good in order to spend more time with is family. Mr. Bathurst currently lives in Marysville, Washington with his beautiful wife, Denise and two wonderful children, Alyssa and Mason.
